Description: GENERAL MANAGER, PATIENT CARE SERVICES

The General Manager, Patient Care Services is responsible and accountable for the supervision and financial management of all in-patient areas such as Ambulatory Care, Accident and Emergency, the Surgical Suite, Rehabilitation, Pharmacy, Social Work and Volunteer Services Department. The incumbent will be expected to plan, establish and implement approved goals and policies, geared towards the ultimate goal of promoting and achieving quality health care. This must be done in compliance with institutional, regulatory and governmental requirements. The incumbent must demonstrate excellent team commitment and leadership to facilitate the development, growth and performance of his subordinates predicated on accountability and empowerment to achieve the established deliverables of the department. The incumbent will create and maintain a positive, harmonious working relationship with his managerial affiliates and the rest of the organization that is Authority centric. The incumbent must be business minded in creating an environment of change that principally embraces patient and customer care consistent with the mandate of the Authority.


CORE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Ensures the establishment of systems for continuous quality management throughout the Authority
• Authorises staff movement between the Hospital and Community Services where necessary
• Integrates and coordinates the activities of the different levels of service providers on policy matters to optimize the use of available resources

CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE:

Education:
• BSc. Degree in Nursing or Health Management/Administration or related field, from an accredited educational institution
• Master’s Degree in Nursing or Health Management/Administration or related field, from an accredited educational institution would be an asset
Experience:
• A minimum of ten (10) years administrative experience with increasing scope of responsibility in a similar or related job function.
• Experience in developing, leading and monitoring successful complex projects that involved multidisciplinary teams.
• Current registration with the Nursing Council of Trinidad and Tobago, where applicable
• Specialized training and/or experience in Health Sector Management would be an asset
• A compelling track record of success as a senior manager in a complex environment with superb communication, adaptive leadership skills and a strong propensity for achievement
• Excellent team commitment and leadership competencies with a passion for growth and development
• Superb interpersonal skills and network creation and maintenance premised on positive strategic influencing
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered
