Description: RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure that proper guidelines are in place to facilitate the proper underwriting of risks presented to achieve the organizations goals.

Ensure that the underwriting guidelines are regularly updated to keep abreast of changing market conditions, industry trends and information, regulators directives and reinsurance placements

Drafting, review and updating of the relevant documentation in the department on an ongoing basis to ensure we keep current with market trends, our client needs and our reinsurance cover.

Placement of reinsurance and adherence to treaties as and when required

Assist in the management of the relationships with brokers and other producers

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

A professional insurance qualification ACII or a first degree in Business Administration.

At least 8 years industry relevant experience of which 4 years must be at a Supervisory level or in a senior underwriting position.



CANDIDATES MUST ALSO POSSESS :

Proven track record of leading/managing the underwriting of General Insurance lines

Strong leadership and negotiating skills

Excellent communication skills

Good strategic and analytical skills

Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office Suite
